Our Story

Picture21.png

Susanna and Tim met in August 2019 the old-fashioned way: at a local bar via a mutual friend. Despite vowing to focus on their final year of grad school rather than romance, they each realized they had met someone worth changing plans for. Their relationship strengthened as they traded fierce independence for unwavering partnership.

In 2021, they packed up their dogs and plants to drive from Chapel Hill to San Francisco. Living in North Beach for two years, they made close friends, explored career paths, ate fantastic food… and realized living near the city might be a better fit than living in the city. Settling into the quiet beauty of Mill Valley, they began planning for future adventures.

The couple got engaged on August 30th, 2023. Using his 35th birthday as a cover, Tim convinced Susanna to take the day off to hike Mount Tam. On a ledge overlooking the Bay, Tim used a poem he'd written to pop the question. Susanna said yes, and the two have been celebrating ever since.

Getting There

Transportation

Flights

San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) are the two closest airports to Mill Valley. Rental cars, taxis, and rideshares can be easily obtained at either location.

Ground Transportation

Mill Valley is primarily accessible via car. If you’re flying in, we recommend renting a car or taking a rideshare to the area you’ll be staying in as the public transit options to Mill Valley are limited. If staying in SF, we don’t recommend renting a car as parking is a challenge. Please note: rideshares to Mill Valley are $60 - $150 and may be difficult to obtain late at night.

You’ll cross a bridge to get to Mill Valley from most directions, and all the bridges have <$10 automatic tolls in one direction. This won't be an issue in a rideshare, but in a rental the bridge fare will be added to your bill. In a personal car, you will get an invoice for the toll mailed to your car's registered address.

Accommodations

There are multiple hotel options in the Mill Valley and broader Marin County area. There are also some great Airbnbs in the area, and northern San Francisco is only a 30-minute drive to the venue. We recommend booking lodging ASAP.
